Port Stephens Yacht Club

Location: Teramby Road, Soldiers Point, NSW, Australia

Port Stephens Yacht Club grew from a meeting at the East Maitland home of Max and Edna Berman on 31 March 1972, when eleven founding members agreed to build a clubhouse for what began as the Soldiers Point Yacht Club. Max Berman, a local builder, served as first commodore and secured the land lease, a state grant and approval for the building. The club still sails from Ridgeway Avenue at Soldiers Point on Salamander Bay, within the sheltered waters of Port Stephens on the New South Wales coast. Racing runs year round, from a Friday twilight series and Wednesday afternoon races to weekend point scores, a winter series and inter-club regattas.
