Port Lincoln Yacht Club

Location: 1 Jubilee Drive, Port Lincoln, SA, Australia

Port Lincoln Yacht Club was formed in December 1948, when returned servicemen revived local sailing in 12 square metre sharpies and elected Alan Payze as first commodore. Organised racing in the town dates back much further, with regattas on Boston Bay recorded as early as 1840 and a Port Lincoln Sailing Club active in the late 1800s. The club joined the state yacht racing association in 1949 and helped establish the Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race, first sailed in 1950 and now one of Australia's premier ocean races. Since 1976 it has hosted Lincoln Week, South Australia's largest regatta for yachts, multihulls and trailable yachts. The clubhouse is also available for venue hire.
