Dobroyd Aquatic Club
Location: St Georges Crescent, Rodd Point, NSW, Australia
Dobroyd Aquatic Club has sailed on Iron Cove in Sydney's inner west since 1937, when 25 locals met at the Scouts Hall in Haberfield and chose a name intended to cover all water sports. The first clubhouse at the mouth of Hawthorn Canal housed fleets of VS and VJ dinghies but was demolished in the early 1960s to make way for a bridge. Members built its replacement at Rodd Point, opened in October 1964, along with the retaining wall and the fill beneath what is now the car park. After an arson attack destroyed the building in 2006, members rebuilt it once more. The club is a recognised O'pen Skiff venue and holds inclusive sailing on Iron Cove as a core objective.
