Cruising Yacht Club of Australia
Location: 1 New Beach Road, Darling Point, NSW, Australia
The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia was established in 1944, when a group of keen sailors began meeting informally in a Sydney photographic studio. Its clubhouse and marina now stand on Rushcutters Bay at Darling Point, about ten minutes from the city centre. The club organises the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, the Boxing Day classic widely regarded as offshore sailing's Everest, together with the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast and PONANT Sydney Noumea races. Its Youth Sailing Academy runs winter squads and school holiday courses as well as its own regattas. Ashore there are permanent marina berths, bars and dining rooms, and spaces for functions.
