Brisbane Sailing Squadron
Location: Quay Street, Brisbane, QLD, Australia
Brisbane Sailing Squadron was formed in 1921 as the Hamilton Sailing Club and took its present name in 1994 after a merger with the Brisbane Yacht Club. Now past its centenary, the volunteer-run club sails dinghies on the Brisbane River from Vic Lucas Park at Bulimba, on the river's southern bank. Around 300 members race Lasers, 16 Foot Skiffs, 125s, Optimists and Sabots, and a junior programme takes sailors aged 7 to 16 from beginner to advanced level. The two-storey clubhouse stores more than 40 boats on its lower level, with a canteen, bar, deck and briefing hall upstairs.
