Yachtmaster Sailing School
Location: Darling Point Wharf, South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Founded in 1988, Yachtmaster Sailing School teaches RYA courses on the waters off Melbourne and in the classroom. Practical training runs from Competent Crew and Day Skipper through Coastal Skipper to Yachtmaster preparation, with theory courses covering navigation at each level. Marine radio operator licences, diesel engine maintenance and safety and sea survival certificates extend the syllabus, and ICC with CEVNI endorsement prepares students for chartering on European waterways. The school is led by Gordon Syme, an internationally recognised Yachtmaster instructor who takes most of the theory classes himself. The stated first rule of sailing here is simply to have fun.
