Sydney Heritage Fleet
Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Sydney Heritage Fleet calls itself the museum that goes to sea, and with reason: its flagship, the 1874 iron barque James Craig, is one of very few nineteenth-century square riggers in the world that still sails regularly, with ocean day sails offered off Sydney Heads. The volunteer-run organisation is based at Wharf 7, Pirrama Road, Pyrmont, with a working shipyard at Rozelle Bay where restoration continues. The wider fleet includes the coastal steamship John Oxley, the steam tug Waratah, the ferry Kanangra and a collection of smaller historic craft. Visitors can join harbour cruises, steaming weekends and vessel tours, and members crew and maintain the ships.
