Port Hinchinbrook Marina
Location: Marine Parade, Cardwell, Queensland, Australia
Port Hinchinbrook is a marina and resort basin at Oyster Point on the southern edge of Cardwell, opposite the spectacular Hinchinbrook Channel in north Queensland. Built in the 1990s as part of a controversial resort development, the harbour was devastated by Cyclone Yasi in 2011 and has since suffered years of ownership disputes and receivership, with dredging lapses and largely defunct shore facilities. In November 2025 the Queensland Government declared the 140-hectare site the state's first Provisional Priority Development Area, with restoration of the Stony Creek access channel and waterways among the stated priorities. Cruising boats should check current channel depths and available services before planning a stop.
