Bayview Marina

Location: Marina Boulevard, Darwin, North Territory, Australia

Bayview Marina shelters behind a tidal lock at the head of Sadgroves Creek, just under five kilometres from Darwin's CBD in the suburb of Bayview. Its 128 floating berths take vessels up to 21 metres with a 7 metre beam and 2.5 metre draught, all behind electronic fob-controlled gates. Darwin's eight-metre tides dictate the routine: the lock can only be approached on tides above four metres, booked ahead with the lockmaster on VHF channel 68 as you pass Stokes Hill Wharf. The creek passage is unmarked in places and threaded with moorings, so first-timers should take care. There is no fuel dock; topping up is by 20-litre jerry can only.
