Tall Ships Races 2027 – Bordeaux
Date: 8 July 2027 – 11 July 2027
Location: Bordeaux Harbour, Bordeaux, France
Organizer: Sail Training International
Bordeaux is the starting port of the Tall Ships Races 2027, organized by Sail Training International. The fleet gathers on the quays along the Garonne from 8 to 11 July 2027 before racing to A Coruna in Spain and on to Sines in Portugal, where the series ends on 1 August. The Bordeaux stop coincides with the Bordeaux Wine Festival, which folds the ships into its riverside programme, so the city centre will be exceptionally busy. The Tall Ships Races are a sail training event at heart: more than half the crew berths are reserved for trainees aged 15 to 25, many of whom have never been to sea. Visitors can board ships in port, watch crew parades, and see the departure as square riggers work their way downriver. Bordeaux is an unusual host because it lies well inland up the Gironde estuary, which makes the arrival and departure of large ships a spectacle in itself.
