Sailing the Society Islands is a guided flotilla holiday run by Modern Sailing School & Club, the Sausalito-based sailing school, through the Leeward Islands of French Polynesia. The 2026 trip runs from 21 to 31 August, departing from Uturoa on Raiatea and cruising the twin islands of Raiatea and Taha'a before continuing to Huahine and Bora Bora. The sailing mixes open-ocean passages in the trade winds with flat-water cruising inside the protected lagoons. Lead boats are two 50-foot Moorings 5000 catamarans sailed with professional captains, where guests book by the cabin; qualified sailors can instead charter a bareboat within the flotilla, with 45-foot and 42-foot options available. Cabins start around 9,495 US dollars per person and bareboat charters from 17,995 dollars, with air conditioning and watermakers aboard the big cats. This is a cruise, not a race, and the lagoons are the draw here: clear, sheltered water with reliable wind.
