A round of the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Cup series, held in Tahiti, French Polynesia from 31 July to 2 August 2026. Ocean racing is the ICF's downwind discipline: surfski and ocean-going canoe paddlers race point to point on open water, riding swell rather than flat-water lanes. Tahiti is one of four to five stops on the 2026 World Cup calendar approved by the International Canoe Federation, alongside events in Malaysia, Brazil and Reunion. This leg carries extra weight because it doubles as the official test event for the 2027 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships, which Tahiti will also host. Local organisers, working with the Polynesian federation, are reported to be running a budget of over 500,000 euros and planning large-scale boat logistics for the championships. For paddlers, the draw is obvious: Pacific swell and a place where outrigger and ocean paddling are part of daily life.
