IVF Va'a World Sprint Championships 2026

Date: 17 August 2026 – 31 August 2026

Location: Marina Bay / Singapore, Singapore

Organizer: Va'a Association Singapore / IVF

The IVF World Sprint Championships are the top event for va'a, the Polynesian outrigger canoe, and in 2026 they are held in Asia for the first time. From 17 to 31 August, Marina Bay in Singapore hosts more than 3,000 paddlers from over 30 countries, the largest field in the sport's history, racing sprint distances in single and six-person canoes. The setting is a departure for a sport rooted in the Pacific: crews sprint past the Merlion and Marina Bay Sands rather than a lagoon, and watching from the waterfront promenade costs nothing. The championships are hosted by the Va'a Association Singapore under the International Va'a Federation. The 2026 edition also brings the international race debut of the Hydra PRO V6, a carbon-fibre six-seat canoe purpose-built for sprint racing. Two weeks of racing in the middle of a dense city centre is a bold experiment, and a big moment for the sport.
