Dragon World Championship 2027

Despite the name, the 2027 Hong Kong Dragon World Championship is raced from 21 to 29 November 2026, and it is a landmark for the class: the first time in its 98-year history that the Dragon Worlds come to Asia. The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club hosts, with the Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club as regatta partner; its 300-berth marina is the fleet base. Racing takes place near the Ninepins island group east of Hong Kong, open water with roughly eight nautical miles of uninterrupted sea room. More than 90 boats expressed interest and over 250 sailors are expected. The Dragon is a 1929 Johan Anker design, a long, low three-person keelboat, and one of the oldest international one-design classes still racing at a serious level. The inaugural Asia Pacific Dragon Championship runs immediately beforehand, from 17 to 21 November, giving crews a warm-up on the same waters.
