Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center

Location: Qingdao, China

Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center occupies a 45 hectare site on Fushan Bay in eastern Qingdao, next to May Fourth Square, on ground formerly occupied by the Beihai Shipyard. The shipyard was relocated to Haixi Bay to clear the site, and the finished venue staged the sailing events of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2008 Paralympic regatta. China won its first Olympic sailing gold medal here in 2008. After the Games the complex became a national sailing sports school and water sports training base, with the marina and breakwater open to the public. It has since hosted stopovers of the Volvo Ocean Race and the Clipper Round the World Race, the Extreme Sailing Series and Qingdao Sailing Week.
