South Australian Maritime Museum
Location: Port Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
The South Australian Maritime Museum occupies a historic bond store at 126 Lipson Street in Port Adelaide, the state's original deepwater port. Run by the History Trust of South Australia, it draws on one of the country's oldest nautical collections, with galleries on migration under sail, coastal ketch trading and the port's working life, plus a lighthouse on the wharf nearby. The museum's 1943 vessel MV Archie Badenoch runs tours on the Port River, home to a resident dolphin population, and scheduled trips visit the Torrens Island Quarantine Station. It opens daily from 10am to 5pm, closed only on Christmas Day, and is a short walk from Port Dock station.
