Burnie Small Boat Harbour

Location: Marine Terrace, Burnie, Tasmania, Australia

Burnie's small boat harbour tucks into the western shore of Emu Bay on Tasmania's north-west coast, inside the working Port of Burnie. TasPorts operates the facility, which shelters a modest fleet of local craft rather than a full-service marina, and berths are arranged directly with the port on request. Commercial shipping dominates the bay, for Burnie is Tasmania's largest general cargo port, so cruising yachts should call ahead and keep well clear of ship movements. Fuel can be arranged through a local supplier and the Emu Bay boat ramp lies nearby, though it is subject to surge. For yachts crossing Bass Strait it is a practical refuge, with better berthing at Devonport, 50 kilometres east.
