Warrior Sailing Basic Training Camp Annapolis

Warrior Sailing runs free three-day Basic Training Camps that teach wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans the fundamentals of sailing and sailboat racing. The Annapolis camp is hosted at the Annapolis Yacht Club, which has supported the program for years, and October on the Chesapeake gives new sailors honest, workable conditions. The camp costs participants nothing: instruction, boats, coaches, equipment, meals and local transportation are all covered by the program. It is open to service members and veterans from every branch of the US military. More than 650 have graduated from Basic Training Camps nationwide, many of them living with traumatic brain injury or PTSD, and graduates can continue into the program's advanced clinics and regatta teams. The format is intense by design, three full days on the water, but it is built for complete beginners. Applications go through warriorsailing.org.
