Last Paddler Standing
Date: 5 December 2026
Location: Lake Placid, United States
Organizer: Last Paddler Standing
Last Paddler Standing borrows the backyard ultra format from trail running and puts it on the water. Competitors paddle a 3.33-mile loop on Lake June-in-Winter, starting a fresh loop on the hour, every hour. Finish inside the hour and you rest until the next start. Miss the cutoff and you are out. After 48 hours the loop stretches to 4.9 miles. There is no fixed finish line; the race simply continues until one paddler remains. It is stand-up paddleboard only, with single-blade paddles required and hybrid sit-on-top boards banned. Simple and a bit mad. The event is held at H.L. Bishop Park in Lake Placid, Florida, a small town in the state's lake-dotted interior, and the 2026 race starts at 9am on Saturday 5 December, with the schedule running into Monday for anyone still upright. Registration for the 2026 edition opened on 1 January.
