2026 U.S. Youth Championship

Date: 9 October 2026 – 12 October 2026

Location: Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, Long Beach, United States

Organizer: US Sailing

The U.S. Youth Championship, usually just called Youth Champs, is US Sailing's pinnacle youth regatta, gathering the strongest under-20 sailors in the country in high-performance classes. The 2026 edition runs October 9 to 12, hosted by Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in Long Beach, California. Eligibility is strict. Competitors must not reach their 20th birthday in the calendar year and must qualify under the Notice of Race, and every sailor is required to have a designated adult on site as chaperone. Recent championships have been decided in boats such as the 29er and iQFOiL, classes that map directly onto Olympic youth pathways, which is exactly the idea: this event is a proving ground for the US Sailing youth pipeline. Long Beach is a fitting host, a busy small-boat venue with a club experienced in running major dinghy championships. For ambitious young American sailors, this is the fall regatta that matters.
