Akaroa Yacht Club

Location: The Wharf, Akaroa, Canterbury, New Zealand

Akaroa Yacht Club sails from Beach Road at the western end of Akaroa village, deep inside the drowned volcanic crater of Akaroa Harbour on Banks Peninsula. The club started life as the Akaroa Cruising Club in 1964 and took its current name in 2012 when it merged with the Akaroa Sailing Club. Racing runs from Labour Weekend to early June, alongside active cruising, youth and social divisions. The clubhouse has a large deck over the water and a function room for hire, and the club keeps moorings at Red Point and Petit Carenage Bay that visiting members can pick up for a few dollars a night. Affiliated with Yachting New Zealand.
