Sail Training Association Belgium

Location: Antwerpen, Belgium

Sail Training Association Belgium (STAB) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1994 and based in Antwerp. It is a founding member of Sail Training International, the body behind the Tall Ships Races, and it places Belgian young people as trainee crew aboard tall ships for those races. The City of Antwerp has delegated the daily management of the ketch Williwaw to STAB; the steel yacht is known as the first sailing vessel to transit the Northwest Passage in a single season, under Willy de Roos in 1977. The association runs sails and school programmes on board and holds information evenings for prospective trainees. It is an offshore sail training body, not a dinghy school.
