Great Escape Sailing School and Boat Hire operates from 1 Richardson Street in Opua, at the southern end of New Zealand's Bay of Islands. The company is an authorised Yachting New Zealand and International Yacht Training school and is certified under Maritime New Zealand regulations. Its fleet consists of New Zealand designed and built trailer sailers and keelboats, used for both tuition and bareboat hire. Courses run from a two day Introduction to Sailing to a six day First Voyage, a five day Skill Builder and a Bareboat Skipper course of six or more days. Boats can be hired by the day, and the company also runs flotilla cruises and longer charters in the bay.
