Deneysville Aquatic Club Sailing School

Location: Deneysville, South Africa

Deneysville Aquatic Club sits on the Vaal Dam at Deneysville in the Free State, about an hour's drive south of Johannesburg. A group of Springbok powerboat pilots founded the club in 1963, choosing the open water of the dam over the congestion of the Vaal River, and it now serves both sail and power. The sailing calendar centres on the annual DAC Keelboat Week regatta each September, which draws keelboat crews from across Southern Africa, alongside the Pursuit Race and the King of the Vaal. The club runs a junior sailing programme and has sponsored development sailors for many years. A clubhouse with a kitchen and pub supports racing and social events.
