Jachthaven Donkers

Location: Weissenbruchlaan 235, Rotterdam, Netherlands

Donkers Watersport traces its history to 1917, when Count Lannee de Betrancourt set up a boat and berth rental business on the Bergse Plassen in Rotterdam's Hillegersberg district; the Donkers family took it over in 1937. The yard at Weissenbruchlaan 235 still rents berths on the shallow peat lake, whose only access lock measures roughly fifteen metres long, 3.05 metres wide and 92 centimetres deep, so the water suits sloops, small motor boats and dinghies rather than keelboats. Services run from engine and hull maintenance to pressure washing, polyester repairs, paintwork and hoisting of boats up to two tonnes. Opening hours follow the season, with Saturday opening in summer only.
