Franeker Watersport Vereniging

The harbour of the Franeker Watersport Vereniging lies on the Van Harinxmakanaal, the main route between Harlingen and Leeuwarden. Coming from Harlingen the entrance is just past the Frisiabrug on the port side; from Leeuwarden it is about a kilometre after the Stationsbrug. The old centre of Franeker, home to the Eise Eisinga planetarium, is a quarter of an hour on foot. This is a club harbour and it runs on volunteers, so the harbourmaster changes regularly. Visitors pay one euro per metre plus one euro per person, and that covers electricity, water, wifi, showers and toilets. Free loan bikes are available for the ride into town, and visitors moor in the end basin or in the green-marked boxes.
