Fort Kudelstaart

Location: Kudelstaartseweg 85, Kudelstaart, Netherlands

Fort Kudelstaart is a fortress of the Stelling van Amsterdam, the UNESCO-listed defence ring around the capital, on the eastern shore of the Westeinderplassen near Aalsmeer. Its moat and grounds have long housed a marina, originally a recreation harbour for defence personnel and now a quiet harbour with about 120 fixed berths around the old fort island. Facilities are deliberately simple: sanitary units with showers, electricity on request, no cafe and no programme of activities. The Westeinderplassen is the largest lake in the Amsterdam area, and the Braassemermeer and Kagerplassen can be reached by ring canal routes. The fort itself is being redeveloped under the name Zeilfort Kudelstaart with plans for hospitality and events.
