Akaroa Marina

Location: Beach Road, Akaroa, Canterbury, New Zealand

There is no berthed marina in Akaroa: boats here live on swing moorings, clustered off Akaroa township, Takamatua, French Farm and Tikao Bay. The moorings are privately owned, with placement overseen by Environment Canterbury's harbourmaster. Shore access runs over the council-owned wharves, including Daly's Wharf and Drummonds Jetty, whose 108-metre floating pontoon gives all-tide landing for recreational and commercial boats. The main Akaroa Wharf is being rebuilt from early 2026, with completion expected in 2027. A boat ramp at the Recreation Ground and the Bruce Slipway on Beach Road round out the facilities; visiting yachts can ask the local yacht club or the harbourmaster about short-term mooring availability.
